The salvaged trees and cacti are moved to an on-site nursery location where they are stored and cared for until they are replanted in the new landscape areas of the development.
Trees are lined up in rows on an area of the site that will not be disturbed by construction. We install a temporary drip irrigation system to water the trees. The owner/developer will need to supply a water source for the nursery such as a water meter, hydrant meter or construction water pump mainline. We will install a backflow prevention device, PVC mainline, manual valves, poly tubing, spaghetti tubing and drip emitters required to water the trees. Basic nursery maintenance includes twice a week service to water, prune and fertilize the trees as well as any other work required to keep the trees in healthy condition.
Saguaro cacti are also relocated to the nursery area where they are planted in rows. We recommend that Saguaros 12’ and taller receive bracing made of 2 x 4’s and cable to help stabilize them in the nursery. Drip emitters are also installed 4’ - 6’ from the base of the Saguaros. They are watered once a month to promote new root growth and help prevent dehydration.
